Cookies & Tracking

Last reviewed: 6 November 2026. Contact: info@list-it.nz.

List-It uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, to understand how it's used, and to measure our advertising.

Types we use

  • Essential cookies, needed for the site to function: keeping you logged in, security, remembering your selected area, and saving your preferences. These can't be turned off without breaking the site.
  • Analytics: we look at which pages and features are used, so we can improve. We aim to use aggregated or anonymised analytics.
  • Advertising measurement, the Meta Pixel: a script from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It loads on our public marketing and directory pages. It is described in full in the next section.

We do not run ad networks that show third-party ads on List-It, and we don't sell your data.

The Meta Pixel

What it is. The Meta Pixel is a small script provided by Meta. When it loads, your browser contacts Meta, which can set or read a cookie and receives information such as the address of the page you viewed (which, on our AI checker, can include the business name you searched for), your IP address, and your browser and device type. We do not pass it your name, email address or payment details.

Why we use it. We advertise List-It on Facebook and Instagram. The pixel lets us see whether people who saw or clicked an ad went on to visit our pages, so we can tell whether the advertising is working, and it lets Meta show our ads to people who may be interested. Meta handles the information under its own privacy policy and may store it outside New Zealand.

Where it loads. Only on our public marketing and directory pages, such as the home page, pricing, the AI checker, the directory, town, category and business pages, articles and guides. It does not load on the pages where you sign in, claim or manage a listing, pay, read our legal terms or use your account, or in our admin area.

Consent. We do not ask for your consent before it loads on those pages and we don't currently show a cookie banner, so the choices below are how you opt out.

How to opt out.

  • In your browser. Turn on tracking protection, use a content blocker, or block third-party cookies. Blocking connect.facebook.net stops the script loading at all.
  • With Meta. If you use Facebook or Instagram, the ad and privacy settings in your account let you limit how Meta uses your activity on other websites. Meta's own privacy policy explains the controls it offers.
  • Ask us. Email info@list-it.nz if you have a question or need help with either of these.

Your choices

You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.

Local storage

We may store small amounts of data in your browser (e.g. your chosen town, filter and sort preferences) so the site remembers your choices between visits. This stays on your device.
